The choice to follow the path of organic farming starts from our awareness of the importance of respecting and protecting the environment. We consider it a fundamental element of our existence and therefore directly, through natural products, and indirectly through the maintenance of biodiversity, the well-being of man.
In organic farming, unlike conventional farming, chemical fertilizers and plant protection compounds produced in the laboratory are not used.
The phytosanitary products used in organic farming are of natural organic origin and the fundamental principle to respect humans being and environment.
Often the definition is based on the terms organic and natural to characterize in a more synthetic and immediate way the peculiar characteristics that distinguish it from conventional agriculture.
IFOAM and 4 Basic Principles
The international body IFOAM has defined the basic principles on which Organic Farming is based:
- Welfare: Organic Farming should support and promote the welfare of the soil, plants, animals, human beings and the planet as a single and indivisible whole.
- Ecology : Organic farming should be based on living ecological systems and cycles, work with them, imitate them and help them to maintain themselves.
- Equity : Organic Farming should build relationships that ensure equity with respect to the common environment and life opportunities
- Precaution : Organic Farming must be managed in a prudent and responsible manner in order to protect the health and well-being of present and future generations, as well as the environment.
Organic Certification
The organic certification is assigned by certifying bodies (in Italy for example CCPB, BioAgricert and others) to an extra virgin olive oil which must be produced exclusively with olives from organic farming. And all the process that will follow up to the packaging, must adhere to the protocols defined in the regulation.
The certification must be renewed annually after inspection of the certifying body. An articulated practice that requires companies to keep a scrupulous documentation of all phases and movements of the product. This aim to guarantee the best quality to consumers avoiding scams.
A BIO certified extra virgin olive oil reports a guaranteed mark on the label that certifies its origin from organic farming.

Starting from 2019 the production of Extra Virgin Olive Podere Panolfo Oils are organic certified by CCPB srl.
