Azienda Agricola Panolfo is located in Umbria in the Municipality of Montecchio in the province of Terni, recently named as among "The most beautiful borghi in Italy" (https://borghipiubelliditalia.it/en/borgo/montecchio/). Laied over the marvelous hilly area covered with olive groves and vines, overlooking Lake Corbara on one side and the Tiber Valley on the other. And about 25 km far from the wonderful city of Orvieto and 30 km from the similar beautiful city of Todi.
The property extends over about 40 hectares, historically called Podere Panolfo. The destination of the land is arable land, arboreal plants with walnuts, ash and cherry trees and about six hectares of specialized olive grove. In the estate stands the farmhouse of the early 1800s that until the 70s hosted the families of the sharecroppers who took care of the land for account of the lord of the area.
It was one of the first farms in the area of the Orvieto hills to plant, since the 70s, a specialized olive grove. Today it has about 3000 plants of different cultivars (Moraiolo, Leccino and Pendolino). The production of Extra Virgin Olive Oil is that of a small company that, in 2021, will produce around 4500 liters of oil. And for this reason engaged in the continuous search for the highest quality of the product will represent the compass of our journey.
And since we want to interpret quality in a total sense and intend to offer objective guarantees to our customers, as per our plans, in 2019 we obtained the certifications of Organic Farming and Protected Designation of Origin DOP Umbria Colli Orvietani.
As evidence of the history of Azienda Agricola Panolfo in pursuing criteria of excellence in production, we had the pleasure of receiving the same number of operator DOP Umbria, the No. 138, obtained by Silvano in 1996 on the occasion of the first certification. Today, the DOP Umbria operator number is over 6500.
